Hoboken Terminal: The 1907 Rail and Ferry Landmark on the Hudson

By Hoboken, Our Way

The history of Hoboken Terminal, the Beaux-Arts rail and ferry station that opened in 1907 and still moves commuters today.

At the south end of town stands Hoboken Terminal, opened in 1907 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. Its copper-clad clock tower and grand waiting room make it one of the most handsome stations in the region.

Still working

The terminal remains a major hub connecting NJ Transit trains, light rail, ferries and the PATH to Manhattan. Step inside to look up at the stained-glass ceiling in the waiting room.

It's also the natural start or end point for a waterfront walk.
