Walking the Hoboken Waterfront: A Local's Guide to the Best Skyline Views
How to walk Hoboken's Hudson River waterfront from Elysian Park to the Terminal, with our favorite skyline viewpoints, coffee stops and benches.
If you only do one thing in Hoboken, walk the river. The waterfront path runs most of the length of the city, and nearly every step has Manhattan right across the water.
Our route
Start uptown near Elysian Park and head south. You'll pass piers, lawns and plenty of benches. Pier A Park, near the south end, is our favorite place to stop — wide open lawn, the skyline straight ahead, and a great spot at sunset.
Keep going and you'll reach Hoboken Terminal, the historic rail and ferry station. From there the path continues into Jersey City if you have energy left. The Hudson River Waterfront Walkway is a long, planned public path stretching along the New Jersey shore.
Tips
Go early for quiet and soft light, or at golden hour for the best photos. Bring a layer — it's always breezier by the water. And grab a coffee before you start.
